The faculty has been training scientists, designers, designers and testers of energy devices since 1868.

О факультете
Currently, the faculty trains professional personnel in specialties that cover devices operating in the field of temperatures from near absolute zero to the temperatures of thermonuclear reactions. Graduates of the faculty are specialists with a wide range of professional knowledge, as well as competencies in the digital transformation of energy, energy efficiency, decarbonization and the development of renewable energy.
Areas of scientific activity: high-efficiency engines for various purposes, gas turbine engines and installations, refrigeration and cryogenic systems, nuclear power plants and thermophysics, ion-plasma technologies, hydro and pneumatic systems, environmental protection.
Where to work then? Graduates are in demand by large public and private companies working in various fields, ranging from aviation, space, oil, gas and ending with food and medical.

E1 Rocket engines
The department trains specialists in the design of rocket and jet engines, as well as their elements for aircraft and conversion installations created on their basis.
E2 Combined engines and alternative power plants
The department trains specialists in the design of reciprocating and combined engines, in promising areas of alternative energy: solar energy, wind energy, traditional engines on alternative and renewable fuels.
E3 Gas turbine engines and combined installations
The department trains specialists in the field of aircraft engine building, power plants, gas pumping units and transport engines.
E4 Refrigeration, cryogenic equipment, air conditioning and life support systems
The department trains specialists in the field of life support systems and thermostating of space and defense facilities, energy-efficient refrigeration systems and air conditioning units with cloud digital control technologies.
E5 Vacuum and compressor equipment
The department trains universal specialists in the field of creating systems for increasing pressure and transporting air and gases, as well as unique specialists in the development of vacuum technology.
E6 Thermophysics
Thermophysics is a field of knowledge about thermal processes, energy cycles of thermal machines and the properties of matter in various states at temperatures from fractions to millions of kelvins.
E7 Nuclear reactors and installations
In the course of training, students receive the competencies necessary for the development and justification of the safety and reliability of nuclear reactors and installations for various purposes
E8 Plasma power plants
The department trains engineers capable of designing, operating and researching both space devices and ground-based devices where plasma and particle beams meet.
E9 Ecology and industrial safety
The department trains personnel in the field of technosphere safety: occupational safety, industrial safety, emergency safety, environmental safety, fire safety.
E10 Hydromechanics, hydraulic machines and hydropneumoautomatics
The department trains personnel in the field of hydromechanics and design of hydraulic machines for a wide range of areas: aviation, space, shipbuilding, energy, oil and gas production and robotics.
Выдающиеся ученые

Вараксин Алексей Юрьевич
Специалист в области двухфазных сред и их использования в энергетике, доктор технических наук, профессор, член-корреспондент РАН (2011). Член Научного совета Международного центра по тепло- и массообмену, член редакционной коллегий журналов, индексируемых в международных базах данных Scopus и Web of Science.

Драгунов Юрий Григорьевич
Доктор тех. наук, член-корреспондент РАН, профессор, специалист в области создания АЭС с реакторами. Лауреат премии Совета Министров СССР. За заслуги перед государством и большой вклад в развитие атомной энергетики удостоен почетного звания «Заслуженный конструктор РФ». Автор более 300 научных трудов и 55 изобретений.

Леонтьев Александр Иванович
Советский и российский учёный-теплофизик, академик РАН, доктор технических наук, профессор. Один из ведущих мировых ученых в области тепло- и массообмена в турбулентных потоках, кипения, теории пограничного слоя и комбинированного свободно- и вынужденно-конвективного теплообмена.
