ASRTU International Student Camp opens in China

The International Student Camp, which unites 8 Russian and 15 Chinese universities, has opened in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province (China). The camp is based on South China University of Technology (SCUT), Xinhua News Agency reported.
The Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) is one of the organizers of the event. Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) represent the Russian side. The Chinese members are South China University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Xiamen University.
Over 100 students and teachers from Chinese and Russian universities will present 35 innovative and entrepreneurial projects related, in particular, to artificial intelligence chips, multifunctional underwater vehicles, waste sorting and the use of cloud technology. The participants will also visit the innovation and entrepreneurship base at South China University of Technology and Chinese companies Huawei and Tencent.
“The most important goals of holding the International Student Camp are to strengthen and promote mutual understanding and friendship between students from Russia and China,” mentioned ASRTU Executive Director for Russia, Vice-Rector of BMSTU Sergei Korshunov at the opening ceremony. He said that in the camp, students will be able to create and develop a platform “for the exchange of ideas and achievements in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship”, as well as contribute to “widespread implementation of science and technology in industry and our everyday life” and expand “the educational possibilities of universities in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship.”
President of South China University of Technology Gao Song noted that he hopes the event will help to reach a higher level of cooperation between universities of China and Russia.
